Restoring My Damaged Curly Hair

I've been trying to restore health to my damaged curly hair after dyeing and frying it to a brittle state. Just a few weeks in, I am noticing a big difference so I figured it was time to share a round up of the hair care routine working for me.

In early 2022, I decided to get it professionally dyed bright pink and it looked great. But as we should all know, color treated hair requires attention and I did not give it that. By December, my hair became extremely dry and brittle.

Supplements for Hair Growth

I have never committed to vitamins specifically for hair growth but my online community highly recommended adding Collagen Peptides to my diet.

This brand was specifically recommended and so far I love it. It's TRULY flavorless so I can easily mix it into my coffee. With my coffee, I also take one Hair+Energy capsule which is supposed to support hair growth, nail strength, and energy.

Washing Damaged Hair

This product line is as good as the reviews say! The Volumizing Shampoo makes my hair feel so clean without making it squeaky and dry. The Hydrating Conditioner leaves it SO SOFT and shiny, it feels unreal.

I've followed Jonathan Van Ness, Queer Eye Host and Hair Stylist, for so long and I've admired their passion for ethical and sustainable hair care so I gave their product line a try and I AM BLOWN AWAY so far!

Washing routine (2X per week):

  • Apply 3-5 drops of Prewash Scalp Oil 20 minutes before showering, massage into scalp

  • Shampoo

  • Condition

  • Pat dry with microfiber towel or t-shirt

  • Comb with wide tooth comb, this ones inexpensive

I plan to start doing a hair mask on a monthly basis.

My Favorite Styling Tools To Prevent Hair Damage

I really thought the silky pillowcase and scrunchies were BS and THEY ARE NOT. My frizz has significantly reduced since incorporating these.
