The Easy Way to Realistically Flock a Tree
I love how this easy holiday DIY turned out! I prefer a flocked Christmas tree but everything I had seen in store looked like it’s been rolled in dust so I decided to make it myself. This is an easy project for beginners and you can also try it on wreaths and garlands.
If you plan to hang ornaments on this tree, attach the ornaments before flocking. I missed this step and I made a beautiful snowy mess trying to attach them afterwards.
How to Flock Your Christmas Tree
Here is a step by step of how I tackled this project, scroll down for the full list of materials.
Mix your “snow” by combining equal parts glue and shaving cream and letting the mixture set for ten minutes before applying.
Use a chip brush to apply your “snow” to each branch. I recommend covering the tip of the branch and brushing a little bit on under the branch for a more full look. I personally like the more globby fluffier look but go with that looks best to you.
Fluff up and stretch Buffalo Snow (cotton) to create small “nests” throughout the tree branches.
Top each nest with Coconut Snow.
As your last layer, sprinkle iridescent snow over the Coconut Snow. If you like, you can replace this step with glitter.
It's going to look bad, before it looks really good - trust me!
Let dry and enjoy!
List of Materials
You will find that the snow mixture dries nice and fluffy, it’s actually quite satisfying to touch! I’d love to see you try this project - please stop by @FirstGenHouse to show me how it turns out!
