How to Fill A Raised Garden Bed
Filling a raised garden bed is easier than you think. Follow these steps to prepare your garden bed for growing veggies, flowers, herbs and more.
1. Line the bottom of your garden bed with cardboard boxes.
I cut up old Amazon boxes for this and while its not necessary, it helps to drench the cardboard with water to expedite it breaking down.
If you're searching for the perfect garden bed, I recommend these modular metal garden beds. You can assemble them based on your space and they look great!
2. Layer in tree limbs and wood cuttings.
3. Layer in plant cuttings.
This may look like its filling your garden to the brim but once you move on to the next step, the weight will compact the plant cuttings into the dry branches.
4. Top off with soil
5. Give your garden a good watering to help compact the layers.
Over the next few days your garden bed will settle. Once things looks more compact you can add more soil as needed.
